Meyer Optik Görlitz has launched an anniversary-photo-competition. Until the end of May, participants can submit photographs taken with lenses from the Meyer universe and win attractive prizes. The winners will be announced at the end of June.
We honor the history & tradition of Meyer Optik Görlitz and are pleased to start our contest as a first project, apart from the new lenses we are launching, in the context of the 125th anniversary,” says Timo Heinze, Managing Director OPC Europe (owner of Meyer Optik Görlitz).”
The initial foundation of Meyer Optik Görlitz (at that time as “Optisch-Mechanische Industrie-Anstalt Hugo Meyer & Co.”) dates back to 1st April 1896. In the thus now more than 125 years there were many events and developments, that strongly influenced the company and partly made it disappear for some time. This year, in addition to the photo competition, there will also be one or two further actions or projects that will continue to fill Meyer Optik Görlitz with life again – so it remains exciting.”
Interested photographers can register for the anniversary competition at www.meyer-optik-goerlitz.com and submit their photographs. Apart from the anniversary, the competition has no special motto, so there are no limits to your creativity. The only requirement is that the photos must have been taken with lenses from the Meyer universe (Historical Meyer or Pentacon 1896-1991, Meyer 2014-2018, Meyer from 2019). Details like the judging procedure and more can be found on the contest website.
Prizes with a total value of approximately €9,000 (~$10,800) will be awarded.
Meyer Optik Görlitz has released five new lenses (each in 9 different mount-versions) since mid of 2020. Well known Bokeh-masters like Trioplan, Primoplan and Lydith have been the starting set up of that rebirth. Further famous lenses like the Biotars have been announced already and will be resurrected in summer this year. On top of that Meyer Optik will add new mount versions (Nikon Z & Canon R), of the complete set up, to its portfolio.
After several ups and downs, Meyer Optik is finally well on track to consolidate its place in the market as a manufacturer of special lenses with unique characteristics – with more to come soon.
